Hiking around Siurana
Siurana village is often seen as the most beautiful place on the Costa Dorada (see also photo at the top). Located in the Montsant Nature Reserve, Siurana was founded in the 8th century and has been considered indestructible for centuries due to its unique location on the Serra de la Gritella plateau. You can park at the village and from Siurana take a nice walk along beautiful precipices and cliffs (about 10 km with 450 meters ascent / descent - see link below). Good to do with children. In addition, you can also walk nicely from Cornudella de Montsant to Siurana.
Mountain hike to Toll de L'Olla
Toll de L'Olla is one of the most beautiful places with a natural waterfall in Farena. A short walk will take you to this wondrous attraction. The water falls over huge boulders in a natural piscina.
Mountain hike Arbolí - Gorgs de la Febró
Gorgs de la Febró can be found in the Muntanyes de Prades and can be reached via a nice walk from Arbolí. Spectacular waterfalls, limestone cliffs and natural turquoise pools. This route is also nice in the summer because it is wonderful to cool off in the icy mountain water.
See link below for the walking route on Wikiloc, about 10 km from Arbolí to Gorgs de la Febró.

Moluntain hike to Fontcalda
Although the name translates to "hot spring", the water here is not very hot. The mineral water comes from a crack in the high canyon wall and the beauty of the canyon is well worth a visit. Also take a refreshing dip in the water.
Access to La Fontcalda can be difficult as it is located in a gorge in the high hills of Tarragona. There are two ways to access this hot spring: by car or on foot/bicycle. See below a link to an (easy) walking route of about 10 km in Wikiloc to La Fontcalda from Prat de Comte and back.

Mas de Forès - Glorieta
With a half hour drive to Mas de Forès you arrive at the starting point of a beautiful walk. The walk ends at a lovely mountain lake with a waterfall where you can take a refreshing dip. See below link to the walking route on Wikiloc of about 10 km with 350 altimeters.
Walking along the coast
The GR92 hiking trail runs from the Ebro all the way to France. The most beautiful part of the route runs through Tarragona and can be started at 4 minutes walking distance from our house.
You walk along the most beautiful beaches of Tarragona, interspersed with beautiful paths along the coastal rocks.
See below link to our page with all beaches.

El Puente del Diablo
Just outside the city of Tarragona we find one of the most spectacular constructions of Roman origin: El Puente del Diablo (The Devil's Bridge), an aqueduct built in the 1st century BC. More than 200 meters long, two stories high, once used to supply the city's water, but which you can walk on today. The aqueduct is located in a large forest where you can also enjoy a nice walk

Cycling on a former railway line
The former railway line of the Valle de Zafán (Tarragona) has been converted here into a beautiful cycle path 'the Vía Verde'. A 200 kilometer long cycle route, in a landscape full of variety.
From prairie-like to fields with vines, olive trees, interspersed with deep valleys, coniferous forests, beautiful rocks and ending in a green oasis of rice fields with black ibis and flamingos. Renovated stations with a cozy bar or B&B, old villages with a lively village square and above all delicious tapas. The other Spain, seen from the bike!

Kayaking at Miravet
Kayaking along one of the prettiest villages in Tarragona. A unique way to sail past Miravet in the morning, and absolutely beautiful to have a good lunch afterwards. See also our page with excursions. Below is a link to an organizer of this kayaking morning (there are more).
Speleology in the city center
Via an underground parking garage in the middle of the city center of Tarragona you can descend (under supervision) into impressive caves. See below link to our BLOG about this unique Cova Urbana (urban cave)
Kayaking to Cova del Llop Marí
La Cova del Llop Mari is located in Hospitalet, Tarragona. It is a cave on the coast where a beach has been formed inside, the sunlight enters through the hole in the rock at the entrance, giving the water a clear color that doesn't seem real.
To access the cave there are two options: swim from a beach about 100 meters away, or take a kayak trip. In any case, don't forget to bring your snorkel.
See below link to a provider operator of kayak and snorkel tours to this cave (there are several).

Kayaking in Siurana
In addition to beautiful walks around the idyllic town of Siurana, you can also kayak in the lake.
Easy to do with the family, no currents, but cooling. About 45 minutes drive from Tarragona city. Nice to combine with a visit to Siurana itself.

Running in Tarragona
From our house you can run various distances over a beautiful route. In any case, all along the boulevard of Playa de la Arrabassada, along the coast towards the city, and for longer distances also along the harbor.
In the summer it is advisable to go in the morning, when it is not too hot yet. Then you can also experience the beautiful sunrise.

Tennis & Padel in Tarragona
Within walking distance of our house is the tennis club Club Gimnàstic de Tarragona, with 8 tennis and 4 padel courts.
Another great tennis court can be found at Cala Romana.

Golf Club Costa Daurada
Golf Costa Daurada, a fine 18-hole course with many facilities, is a 10-minute drive away. But there are also several other golf courses nearby.
Football Club Gimnàstic Tarragona
From our house you can walk to Segunda B club Gimnàstic Tarragona. Maybe not as famous as FC Barcelona but at least as nice to visit once in a while.
Skiing in the Catalan Pyrenees
Not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Spain, but from Tarragona locals like to go skiing in the Catalan Pyrenees. This is a good two hour drive away and ideal for a day or weekend, if there is snow (see link below to video of La Masella). Catalonia is one of the few destinations in Europe where you can glide over the high mountain slopes while enjoying the Mediterranean climate: sun, mild temperatures and exceptional light. The Catalan Pyrenees have sixteen ski areas – ten alpine skiing and six cross-country areas – spread over 650 kilometers. This makes it one of the largest and most varied ski areas in Southern Europe.
