Tips for going out

Spaniards love good food and drink and Tarragona is no different. Here are some tips to taste good wine, drink coffee, grab a terrace, eat & end the evening with live music.

Wine tasting

Enjoy the taste of a good glass of wine from the region as an aperitif. Of course the Priorat is a nice choice (see also our Blog over de Priorat) but also try a Montsant DO, Tarragona DO or a fresh cava from the region.

Korxo

Locally popular Korxo wine and tapas bar from the old town. Cozy tables and umbrellas along the street. Good wine list with Catalan DO favourites. Tasty tapas such as with hummus, burrata salad, baked camembert and Iberian ham.

El Tamboret

Hidden along a narrow street near the Plaça del Forum, this delightful wine bar serves a well curated selection of wines from all over Catalonia. Try a delicious Artigas from the Priorat country or a bubble of cava stars like Miquel Pons. Selections change regularly and the friendly French owner is happy to guide you to something special. Cheese and charcuterie dishes are a nice addition to the wines.

Espa VI

ESPA VI is a wine bar/restaurant located on one of the nicest squares in Tarragona. You can enjoy local wines and tasty tapas. lots of seafood.

El Ceibo Bar

Lovely terrace on the main square in Tarragona, Placa de le Font. Although therefore in the tourist epicenter, you can still have a drink and snack here very affordable. In addition to wines, they also have beers, Vermut, Aperol, etc.

Enjoying outside

There is nothing better than enjoying a drink, tapa or whole meal on a nice terrace. Here are tips for sitting outside in the old town, the harbor or in the garden of the restaurant itself.

Quattros

Lively and busy terrace and a cheerful indoor dining room. In the heart of the Plaza de la Font, next to the town hall. Quattros serves the most delicious tapas, pinchos and montaditos, or extensive dishes.

Les Granotes

Magnificent view of the sea and the Roman amphitheatre, where culture and gastronomy come together. Ideal for enjoying a drink or snack by moonlight. They have various cocktails, tapas to share, and their specialty: burgers baked in their Josper grill oven.

Mas Rosello

This restaurant is near Forti de Sant Jordi. Good Mediterranean meals with fine wine. We also had an excellent Calçotada there. You can eat inside the restaurant, the large conservatory or outside in the garden.

Mesón del Mar

Mesón del Mar is located in the marina of Tarragona and has a large heated terrace overlooking the sea where you can taste authentic Mediterranean fish dishes, as well as a large choice of tapas.

The finest places in Tarragona for breakfast, a sandwich or a merienda (coffee or chocolate milk with something sweet).

Enrich

In May 1913, Francesc Enrich left his hometown of Argençola to settle in Barcelona and learn the baker's trade. In 1921 he opened his own oven in the Sants district, where years later he would teach the trade to his son and later to his grandson, who continued the family business.
Enrich on the Rambla Nova radiates tranquility and tradition with its bright spaces. Lovely fresh bakery and excellent coffee.

Fleca Pastisseria Chef Clive

Clive is a Brit who has traveled the world and ended up stranded here in Tarragona. That may not sound like authentic Tarragona, but make no mistake: this bakery and cafeteria is very popular with the locals.
Every day Clive bakes all kinds of bread (even twice a day), cookies and homemade cakes. Located near the amphitheatre, an ideal place for breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Pastry shop and cafeteria with a pleasant terrace. Chain with various branches in Tarragona, with delicious coffee and fine sandwiches.

Live music in the city

If there isn't already a fiesta in town (which doesn't happen often) you can go to the following locations for great live music.

Sala Zero

Sala Zero is located in the center of Tarragona and has regularly great 'tribute performances' with a lot of atmosphere. Medium-sized hall with a capacity of 400 people

Tarraco Arena Plaza

The old bullfighting arena in the middle of the city of Tarragona was converted in 2010 into a large stage for a wide variety of renowned artists. The roof of the hall consists of a large dome that can be opened. The hall has 9,500 seats.

Tarraco Arena

Also in the same converted bullfighting arena is a separate room with authentic flamenco. In the summer there are weekly flamenco shows. Also, the annual flamenco festival mainly takes place here.

Auditori Municipal del Camp de Mart

Located along the 2,000-year-old Roman wall of the city of Tarragona, the Teatre Auditori del Camp de Mart is an open-air stage with a capacity of more than 2,000 people. Nationally and internationally famous artists perform here, especially in summer.
