The beach

One of the most beautiful beaches in Tarragona, Playa de la Arrabassada, is a 4 minute walk from our house. With three nice beach bars. Not much further are several other beaches, small and large but all authentic Spanish. The famous GR92 hiking trail runs along all these beaches, interspersed with beautiful stretches along the coastal rocks.

Playa de la Arrabassada

4 minutes walk from our house, the most beautiful beach of Tarragona. In the summer you can rent beach beds, umbrellas, pedal boats and kayaks.
Playa de la Arrabassada is also a nice starting point to start the hiking route GR-92 along the coast.

Chiringuito Pepe's & Lugano (Playa de la Arrabassada)

One of the three modern beach bars on Playa de la Arrabasada to enjoy a good cup of coffee from home in the morning or a drink at the end of the day. At Chiringuito Pepe's & Lugano you can order a water pipe in addition to delicious drinks and snacks (such as their fresh boquerones).

Sunrise at Playa de la Arrabassada

The sunrise on the beach of Arrabassada is magnificent. If it comes too early for you, the sunset is also very worthwhile.

Volleyball at Playa de la Arrabassada

At the end of the afternoon, countless volleyball fields are set up on the beach and played by everyone, young and old. Fun to watch or do yourself.

The beaches of Tarragona

Tarragona has countless beaches, large and small, all of which are easy to reach. The best thing is to visit them via the GR92 walking route along the coast.

The beaches below are listed in order of their distance from Playa de la Arrabassada. They are all on the GR-92 route but can also be reached by car or public transport, with the exception of Playa Fonda (Waikiki) and Playa Rocas Planas.

Hiking trail GR92

The GR92 hiking trail runs from the Ebro all the way to France. The most beautiful part of the route runs through Tarragona and can be started a 4-minute walk from our house.
You walk along the most beautiful beaches of Tarragona, interspersed with beautiful paths along the coastal rocks.

Playa del Miracle

Playa El Miracle is Tarragona's city beach. The beach is located between Playa de la Arrabassada and the port. From the Balcón del Mediterráneo (end of the Rambla Nova) you can look at El Miracle.
Due to its location and the wind, windsurfing is common on this beach.

Playa de la Savinosa

Small and intimate beach, within walking distance of Arrabassada, only 350 meters with lots of privacy. The northern part is reserved as a nudist beach.

Cala Romana

Beautiful beach within walking distance of Arrabassada, also known as la Playa de Els Capellans

Playa Larga

At approximately 3 kilometers in length, Playa Larga (as the name suggests) is indeed the longest beach in Tarragona. You can park there well, but you can also walk there from Playa de la Arrabassada in less than an hour.

Playa Fonda (Waikiki)

Playa Fonda (Cala Fonda) is also called Waikiki (after a famous beach in Hawaii). That is not without reason, it is a lovely beach with lots of privacy. The latter is because you can only get there on foot with a 15-20 minute walk (from Playa Larga or La Mora, on the GR-92 walking route).

Playa Rocas Planas

Like Playa Fonda, this is a virgin beach on the coast of Tarragona. It is a nudist beach so privacy comes in handy. Again, you can only get here on foot, via Playa Large or La Mora, through the forest of el Bosc de la Marquesa. There are no amenities.

Playa de la Mora

8 min drive by car or bus, or even better: via a nice walk on the GR92) beautiful bay with a beautiful beach.
There are restaurants on the beach for a nice lunch during a walk, but check if they are open in winter.

Cala Jovera

Nice beach of only 90 meters long, within walking distance of Mora, under the view of the castle of Tamarit

Playa de Tamarito

In line with the beach of Altafulla, and overlooking the castle of Tamarit. Easily accessible by car or public transport (or via a beautiful walk on the GR92)

Playa Altafulla

Picturesque houses are located on the beach of Altafulla. In the harbor club on the beach you can have a delicious lunch
